There ARE moths that can get to the size of a grown persons hand (this is all 'on average' figures). They're called atlas moths and I kinda forget where they hang out but they're huge and sorta tiger orange colour mixed with some black and white.

Ooh! The body being so big though? I used to have an io moth when I was about 15. The biggest insect I've ever seen though is a pair of almond moth caterpillars my parents' neighbors found under their house when they moved in. The suckers were enormous! As long as my forearm and twice as fat.
